Casting Lessons for complete beginners:
Tuition is tailored to suit individual needs, proceeding at a pace that ensures you are happy, confident and safe when casting and that you are enjoying yourself - it should be fun.
2 hour lessons, half day or full days are available as different options.
A full day would cover all aspects of fly fishing: an introduction to fishing tackle and equipment neccessary for a day's fishing, knots, fly selection & basic entomology, roll casting, overhead casting, false casting, shooting line, hooking and landing a fish, handling of fish, humane despatching of fish, catch & release, fishing etiquette.
All lessons cover safety, loan of equipment & rod license for the day.
Intermediates:
Once you're confident & competent with the basics we can move onto side casting, slack line casts for the river, gaining distance, single & double hauling, coping with different wind conditions and obstacles. Also, ensuring that you have the correct rod&line set up for the water that you intend fishing and also for your own level of casting. I meet so many fishermen that have been sold the latest, top of the range rods, fabulous in the right hands but disasterous and soul destroying if it's not correct for your casting style or ability.
Casting is about line tension, timing, power application, tracking and casting angle. All you need is the correct technique and understanding to improve your casting skills and increase your chances of catching more fish. Also by increasing your ability with a fly rod you improve your chances of tackling different species in different conditions. Most people gain great pleasure from casting, it should be effortless, controlled, quiet and accurate.
