Fishery buildings and facilities

1.BUILDINGS

The main fishing hut is available for all members to use. There are a table and chairs, facilities for making tea and coffee, etc. It is anticipated that all rods will share these facilities in a spirit of co-operation. Please leave the hut as clean and tidy as when you arrived, to ensure that everyone can enjoy it. Water for the main fishing hut is stored in a tank. It is brought in and pumped to the tank by hand so please do not leave the taps running. The lighting is supplied by solar charged battery so please do not leave the lights on unnecessarily.

Please do not clean fish in the sink in the hut. A sink is provided for fish washing, dog cleaning, etc next to the car park. There is a WC and washbasin behind the main hut for members’ use. It is a chemical toilet and advice on its use is simple and is posted in the WC. Other huts are provided for members at strategic points throughout the fishery. They are marked on the map, which is displayed in the main fishing hut and appears in the annual information booklet. There is a machinery hut on the main river (on beat 3) where the fishery manager stores grass cutting and other equipment.

2.MAINTENANCE

The management of the environment of the river is an ongoing task twelve months a year. Mowing and strimming take place each week during the season. Fringes will be trimmed and topped every weed cut. As much as possible of these activities is carried out by the fishery manager in the early mornings but inevitably there will be some noise and inconvenience during the day. Usually it is of short duration, and the tolerance of those fishing is appreciated.

3. SECURITY

The main fishing hut is locked at night and details of the combinations of the locks and padlocks are distributed with the annual information. There was a break-in some years ago and equipment was stolen. For security (and to maintain the fishery’s insurance) grilles have been fitted to the door and windows of the main hut. Please will members ensure that the hut is locked when they leave it and that all lights and taps are turned off.
